About Siddha Yoga Programs & Events Giving & Receiving Contact Us

Just as all are welcome to join us for the various programs offered at the Monterey Center, everyone is also welcome to participate in the many activities that support the smooth functioning of the center.

The Center is sustained by the seva, the selfless service, that people offer. Whether it is lighting candles, playing music, running the audio-visual equipment, or welcoming others at the entrance to the meditation hall, everything at the center is accomplished by people who are offering seva by generously volunteering their time and energy.

There is an obvious practical element here – someone has to turn the lights on and off; someone has to put the kettle on for tea after the program – but there is a less obvious, mystical element at play here too: the alchemy of everyday, mundane actions becoming a profound spiritual practice.
